Meet the Founder
Spencer Fehrenbacher is an innovative educator and communicator, with dual American-Canadian citizenship, based in Vancouver, BC. His global experiences and passion for language have inspired him to develop SpeakEasy, a groundbreaking method for Mandarin and Cantonese speakers to master English pronunciation.
Spencer's Story
Born and raised across various regions of the United States, Spencer Fehrenbacher developed an early fascination with the nuances of the English language and the power of clear communication. His upbringing in diverse environments—from the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest to the bustling energy of Washington DC, and the culturally rich landscapes of the Southeast and Southwest—shaped his acute awareness of how small differences in pronunciation can impact understanding and connection between people.

After moving to Canada in 2016, Spencer's linguistic insights were further refined, leading him to pursue a Master of Arts in International Business in Tianjin, China, from 2018 to 2020. Immersed in a unique environment where he was both learning Mandarin and teaching Business and English courses to undergraduate students, Spencer realized the significant gap in resources for Mandarin and Cantonese speakers seeking to achieve mastery in English pronunciation. His vision for SpeakEasy was born out of this experience, blending neuroscience, mindfulness, and embodied learning to create a transformative path for language learners.

Spencer’s dedication to communication extends beyond education; he is also the producer of a feature-length documentary on his experience aboard the Diamond Princess during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was acquired by NBC Universal and is currently available on Peacock. His unique combination of dual citizenship, advanced academic credentials, and hands-on teaching experience in China positions him as an expert in bridging cultural and linguistic divides, helping others unlock new opportunities through clear and confident English speaking.
